EnRoute stands for Enhancing Resilience of urban ecosystems through green infrastructure. EnRoute is a project of the European Commission in the framework of the EU Biodiversity Strategy and the Green Infrastructure Strategy. EnRoute provides scientific knowledge of how urban ecosystems can support urban planning at different stages of policy and for various spatial scales and how to help policy-making for sustainable cities. It aims to promote the application of urban green infrastructure at local level and delivers guidance on the creation, management and governance of urban green infrastructure. Importantly, it illustrates how collaboration between and across different policy levels can lead to concrete green infrastructure policy setting.

3nd meeting of the Partnership on Sustainable Use of Land and Nature-based Solutions, 18/19 December 2017, Zagreb
The partnership on sustainable land use and nature-based solutions meets two days in Zabreb to start the development of an action plan with proposals for better knowlegde, better regulation and better funding of nature-based solutions and liveable compactness of Europe's cities.
EnRoute can contribute by providing proposals for better knowlegde. JRC is a parter and represents EnRoute.

EnRoute meeting in Tallinn: Conference report
As part of the Presidency of the Estonian Republic of the Council of the European Union, a flagship conference “Nature-based Solutions: From Innovation to Common-use” was organized by the Ministry of the Environment of Estonia and the University of Tallinn. EnRoute organized a side event on the conference with a focus on how the project can contribute to the knowledge base supporting nature-based solutions in cities. Mapping and assessment of pollutant removal by urban trees in Rome
Lina Fusaro and colleagues from the La Sapienza University of Rome have mapped the removal of PM10 and ozone by urban trees in Rome, one of the EnRoute city labs, as well as at regional level. They combined high resolution remote sensing data with measured pollutant concentrations to estimate the physical removal of pollutants by trees. A damage cost approach was used to estimate the monetary value associated to pollutant removal. EnRoute will attend the Nature-Based Solutions conference in Tallinn
EnRoute will contribute to the conference on Nature-Based Solutions in Tallinn, Estonia. The conference is organised as part of the Estonian Presidency of the EU. EnRoute meets in Malta on 13 and 14 June 2017
EnRoute organizes a one-day conference on Evidence-based planning for greener cities in collaboration with the Maltese presidency of the EU and the Institute of Applied Sciences of the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology. The central question of the meeting is how science can provide the tools to inform policy making and urban planning so that quality of life improves for every citizen.
EnRoute kick off meeting Rome 7 and 8 March 2017
We organised on 7 and 8 March 2017 the EnRoute kick-off workshop at the Sapienza University of Rome. The aim of this kick-off workshop was to work on a common basis of understanding and goals, to align all participants in the work that they shall be doing, and to work on ‘ownership’ by the participants and ‘community building’.
