The Urban Nature Atlas was created as part of the NATURVATION research project. Naturvation (NATure-based URban innovation) is a 4-year project, funded by the European Commission and involving 14 institutions across Europe. The Urban Nature Atlas includes information on 976 NBS interventions from across 100 European Cities and it is available on the website of the project. The Urban Nature Atlas intended to provide the most comprehensive survey of nature-based solutions (NBS) in European cities. Its development took place between January 2017 and February 2018. The 100 cities included 6 partner cities of the project, where in-depth research is currently being carried out, and 94 cities from the Eurostat Urban Audit.
